Optimal Stopping for Interval Estimation in Bernoulli Trials

We propose an optimal sequential methodology for obtaining confidence intervals for a binomial proportion θ. Assuming that an i.i.d. random sequence of Benoulli(θ) trials is observed sequentially, we are interested in designing a) a stopping time T that will decide when is the best time to stop sampling the process, and b) an optimum estimator θ̂T that will provide the optimum center of the inte...

Bernoulli Trials and Permutation

Abst.rot Several coin-tossing games are surveyed which, in a natural way, give rise to "statistically" induced probability measures on the set of permutations of {1, 2 n} and on sets of multipermutations. The distributions of a general class of random variables known as binary tree statistics are also given.

Boundaries from Inhomogeneous Bernoulli Trials

The boundary problem is considered for inhomogeneous increasing random walks on the square lattice Z2+ with weighted edges. Explicit solutions are given for some instances related to the classical and generalized number triangles.

Simple Expressions for Success Run Distributions in Bernoulli Trials

New simple formulae for some probability distributions of success runs in Bernoulli trials are found by using the classical definition of run. These expressions contain only one summation of ordinary binomial coefficients and thus allow a faster and efficient computation.
